Carolyn Plitt Thompson, 96, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013.

Born Dec. 2, 1916 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of William and Mildred Schulenberg Plitt. She was the wife of the late James C. "Jack" Thompson Jr., who she married in 1947.

She graduated from Western High School, Strayer Business College and Cecil Community College. Before her marriage she worked as secretary to the president of the Roland Park Company. She retired from the Cecil County Public Library and returned to volunteer for 10 years.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Newark, Del., and St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church in Westminster. She served twice as president of the Women's Club of Cecil County.

Surviving are daughter Judy Jacob and husband Tom; a granddaughter, Kate Jacob; and a brother, Robert A. Plitt.

She was predeceased by sons James C. Thompson III and William P Thompson; and a brother, Edward Plitt.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service, 2 p.m. Sunday at Carroll Lutheran Village, Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster. Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore.
