Carolyn Brightful Rogers passed away on Friday, September 8th at Carroll Hospital Center. Carolyn, also affectionately known as "Piggy", was 79 years of age. She was born in Carroll County to Charles and Helena Baker Brightful and lived her entire life in Westminster. Carolyn is survived by her children: son Charles Brightful; daughter Melody Brightful (Andre); daughter Reather Miles; and daughter Vera Rogers (and husband Larry). She is also survived by her son-in-law Douglas Millberry and sister-in-law Reather Rogers Martin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. brothers; Robert Brightful, Stanley Brightful and Francis Brightful. She leaves grandchildren: Michelyn Brightful,; Charles Brightful, Jr.; Derick Brightful; Shawn Jones; Natasha Costley (and husband Brandon); Chad Millberry; Shayla Brightful; Shaniqua Brightful; Marie Diggins; Bryant Millberry; Ridge Millberry; Kiara Mills; Ryan Rogers and Ronald Miles III. She also is survived by 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her son Jerry Brightful, daughter Robin Millberry, and son-in-law Ronald Miles, her sisters Catherine Johnson, Marjorie Sherrod, Genivieve Hodge and brother Charles Brightful. Carolyn retired from Rosewood State Hospital in Owings Mills, Maryland after 40+ years of service. As much as Carolyn loved spending time with her family, she also loved cooking for them. Carolyn will be fondly remembered for her "soul" food style of cooking, but most especially for her famous potato salad. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 17 from 5 -8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. Homegoing services will be held at Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 East Main St., Westminster on Monday, September 18th at 1:00 p.m. with Apostles Ann Brickhouse and Cynthia Robertson officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel to help defray the cost of professional services.
