Carroll Frederick Dodson Sr., 79, of Union Bridge, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, following a lengthy illness. Born May 26, 1935 in Redland, MD, he was the son of the late Henry Orville and Nellie Marguerite Gingelle Dodson. He was the husband of Doris Jean Weakley Dodson, his wife of 60 years. Mr. Dodson was a employed as a master mason, working in the DC area, starting as a young man and working through his mid 40's. He then went to work on his family's farm "Rita Mae Farms" as a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door, Westminster. He enjoyed mowing grass, camping, going to Gospel concerts, and spending time with his family. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Joye Darlena Dodson Kohr (David) of Union Bridge, Carroll Frederick Dodson Jr. (Amanda) of Damascus, Heidi Renee Dodson Bailey (Scott) of Fayetteville, PA, Todd Anthony Dodson (Brenda) of Thurmont; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Rita Mae Hill of Frederick, John Richard Dodson (Emily) of Fredericksburg, VA, Paul Allen Dodson of Littlestown, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Harold L. and Gerald G. Dodson. A funeral service will be held at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro on Tuesday, July 29 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Dr. John Campbell, his pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, c/o University of Maryland Medical System Foundation, 110 S.
