Carroll Singer Haines, 88, of Cave City, Ky., died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.

A native of Carroll County, he was the son of the late Walter Turner and Mary Pauline Wantz Haines. He was the husband of Mary C. Haines.

He was a retired employee of Baltimore Gas & Electric, an Army veteran, and a member of the Lutheran Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Carol Ann DeGroft and husband Charles, of Cave City; step-children Susan L. Maseth and husband Robert, of Westminster, and Calvin H. Lucy and wife Kathy, of Littlestown, Pa.; grandchildren Jamie DeGroft and wife Robin, and Skyler DeGroft, all of Cave City; step-grandchildren Ashton and Emily Maseth, both of Westminster; a great-grandchild, Riley DeGroft, of Cave City; brothers Edward Haines, of Taneytown, Alton Haines, of Cave City, Delano Haines, of Grantsville, and Leonard Haines, of Columbia Falls, Mont.; and several nieces and nephews.

He ws predeceased by siblings Lois Haines, Mary Magin, Phyllis Wilt, Walter Haines Jr., Margaret Haines, and George Haines.

Per his wishes, he was cremated.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of  memorial service, 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, in Glasgow, KY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Believe in Tomorrow Children's Foundation, In honor of Julie Lochary, 6601 Frederick Road, Baltimore, MD 21228; or to Carroll County 4-H, 700 Agriculture Center Drive, Westminster, MD 21157.
