Carroll W. Robinson, 84, of Mount Airy, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013.

Born July 29, 1929, in Clintonville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Elsie R. Hedrick and Guy A. Robinson. He was the husband of Florence N. Robinson, his wife of 63 years.

He was a veteran of the Air Force during the Korean conflict.

He was a licensed electrician and commercial developer and was the owner of Mount Airy Development. He built and managed a 71-unit apartment complex and medical center located in Mount Airy, which he continued to maintain prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed many hobbies, including golfing and flying his twin engine piper. An avid hunter, he went to Wyoming, Canada and Alaska. He spent a great deal of time at his West Virginia retreat. During the summer he would visit his Ocean City beach home.

He was an honorary charter member for 27 years of the Mount Airy Rotary Club. He was honored by becoming a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a life member of the Westminster Elks Club and a life member of the Mount Airy American Legion.

Surviving are a sister, Joanne R. Stallings, of Mount Airy; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

He was predeceased by sister and husband Marjorie and Hanford Van Sant; and a brother-in-law, Harold Stallings.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Art Monroe officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy.
