Catherine B. Schaeffer, 83, of Westminster passed away peacefully at Carroll Hospice Dove House, Monday, November 20, 2017 with her family by her side. Born May 15, 1934 in Pleasant Valley, she was the daughter of the late J. Norman and Margaret C. (Wantz) Brown. She was the loving wife of Paul K. Schaeffer who predeceased her in 1990. Catherine was retired from the Carroll County Times. Catherine was a member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Pleasant Valley and liked crocheting and enjoyed flowers. Surviving her are children Norman P. (Wanda) Schaeffer of Finksburg, C. Marie Schaeffer of Pleasant Valley, Wanda Sparks of Hampstead, Bernard L. Schaeffer of Hampstead, Brenda Sue (Paul) Harpster of Westminster, June Larue Schaeffer and companion Bryan Bosley of Littlestown, PA ; and Grandchildren Stephanie (Eddie) Geordt, Jeffrey (Hannah) Schaeffer, Jerry (Jenny) Hobbs, Randy (Missy) Hobbs, Paula Hyde, Jessica and Trisha Harpster, Jake Bosley; and Great Grandchildren Nathanial, Andrew and Addison Hobbs; and nephew Jeff Colson. She was predeceased by sister Dorothy Colson, Grandson Daniel Paul Schaeffer and Son-in-law Dale Sparks. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Please use the Chapel entrance. Services will be on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Pritts Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Moss and Deacon Charles Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
