Catherine Delores "Cathy" Ostrum, age 76, of Union Bridge, died Monday, August 14 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born October 15, 1940 in Crowl Town, MD, she was the daughter of the late Noah Porter Sr. and Mabel Haines Porter. She was the wife of Ray H. Ostrum Sr., who predeceased her in 2010. Mrs. Ostrum was formerly employed with Union Bridge Clothing Company and in the past had written articles for the Carroll County Times. She was a former member of the Union Bridge Recreation Council and was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed horses, fishing, hunting, playing scrabble, listening to old country music, antiques, yard sales, taking care of the farm, but most of all spending time with her family. Surviving are sons, Ray H. Ostrum Jr. and wife, Shelley of Hanover, PA, Arron J. Ostrum and wife, B.J. of Hagerstown; daughter, Carmen of Emmitsburg; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford Porter of Richmond, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine; and a brother, Noah Jr. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge on Tuesday, Aug. 15 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Chaplain Art Monroe will officiate.
