Catherine W. Poff, age 89 of Sykesville, died Monday, March 13, 2017 surrounded by her family at Transitions Healthcare in Sykesville. Born December 17, 1927 in Cooksville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Coman Vance and Alma Mae Rogers. She was the wife of the late Carlton Hurt Poff who died July 31, 1996. Catherine was an LPN Supervisor for over 30 years at Springfield Hospital Center and retired in 1985. She was extremely active in the MCEA (Maryland Classified Employees Association). She was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzle books and especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Her survivors include her children Carlton Poff and his wife Carol of New Windsor, Brenda Murphy and her husband Don of Conway, SC, Susan Lowery and her husband Jim of Westminster, Barry Poff and his wife Vickie of Dagsboro, DE, and Bryan Poff and his wife Melanie of Westminster. She is also survived by her brother Coman Rogers of Sykesville and 9 loving grandchildren and 16 loving great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 10am. Interment to follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville. Those desiring may send donations in Catherine's name to Carroll Hospice, Inc., 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157
