Cecelia A. Chowning, 102, passed away on January 20, 2017, in her residence at Barrington Terrace, Ft. Myers, Florida. Cecelia was born on January 21, 1914, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the daughter of George W. Walther and Lillian G. Walther. She was one of six siblings: Marcella Myers, William Walther, Jr., Regina Harriman, Edward Walther, and Frances Walther. Cecelia was married to James Chowning and was the mother of Charles F. Chowning. Cecelia was a wife, mother, homemaker, and loving supporter of all who knew her. She lived most of her life in Baltimore, MD, residing, after her husband's death, at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, MD and lastly in Ft. Myers, Florida. Cecelia was a welcome addition to any gathering. She was a wonderful pianist, entertaining at her home on Kelox Road for family and friends. She was a gracious hostess, providing wonderful meals to guests, especially known for her delicious homemade cakes. She was a believer in exercising for health and led exercise classes in her senior living community. She loved beaches, vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland, Oahu, Bermuda, and Florida. Cecelia outlived all of her siblings, her parents, her husband and son. She is remembered lovingly by many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a Christian, practicing her faith until the end. Rest In Peace.
