Chadly-Jay Leister Myers, 45, passed away at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton on August 22, 2016 after a prolonged battle with colon cancer. Chad, was born on October 18, 1970 in Hanover, PA. He graduated from Parkville High School in 1988. He attended Gettysburg College graduating with a degree in Business Management/Accounting. While at Gettysburg, Chad was a member of the ATO Fraternity and met his wife, Gwen Friday Myers, singing on the Chapel Choir. They lived in Abingdon, MD where they were active in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Joppa, MD. After college, Chad accepted a position in health care finance as a Manager in Financial Reporting and Compliance and a Senior Financial Analyst in Baltimore. In 2006, Chad and Gwen welcomed a son, Tamerlan Jay (TJ), and a daughter, Yana, through the miracle of adoption. The family moved to Chestertown, MD in 2009 where Chad continued his work for the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center. Chad was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown. He used his talents serving the congregation as a member of the finance committee. Chad will be remembered for his dedication to his family, loyalty to his friends, and his strong work ethic. He was a man of integrity who endeavored to show the love of Christ through his calm, gentle manner and hospitality to all who met him. Chad is survived by his wife of 22 years, Gwen; children, TJ, and Yana; his parents, Eugene and Ruth Leister Myers of Westminster, MD; in-laws, Larry and Annette Friday; sisters Robin Myers Adamopoulos and Rachel Myers Potts and brother's-in-law, Alex Adamopoulos and Eric Potts; sister-in-law Kristen Nicholson; and nieces: Elise Adamopoulos, Kara Adamopoulos, Morgan Nicholson, and Lydia Potts. He is also survived by long-time family friend, Ruth Horner of Westminster, MD. He will be greatly missed, especially by his faithful dog, Summer, who remained by his side throughout his battle with cancer, and guinea pig, Panda. Chad was predeceased by his grandparents, Raymond & Roberta Myers and Alton & Doris Leister. A celebration of Chad's life was held on August 27, 2016 at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown with funeral arrangements provided by the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home.
