Charles Andrew Paynter, 50, of Hampstead, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 27, 2013, while vacationing in North Adams, Mass.

Born May 17, 1963, in Oak Park, Ill., he was the son of Thomas Hart and Lucille Beverly Arneson Paynter, of Owings Mills. He was the husband of Susan Stickles Paynter, his wife of 24 years.

He was a graduate of Owings Mills High School and of the Arundel Institute; and he attended the Community College of Baltimore County.

He enjoyed music and playing his guitar for all who would listen. He was an avid history buff, anime and comic book enthusiast and enjoyed attending the Renaissance Faire.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Grant Evan Paynter, of Hampstead, and Zachary Cain Paynter and wife Sarah, of North Adams; grandchildren Lily and Benjamin; sister and brother-in-law Patricia Kay and David Redding, of Westminster; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Alan Paynter.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Journey of Faith Church, 7902 Liberty Road, Windsor Mill.
