Mr. Charles "Charlie" Richard Barclay, Sr., 77, of New Windsor, died peacefully surrounded by his family and priest, Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Carroll Hospital Center. Born June 24, 1938 in Rockwood, PA, he was the son of the late William Daniel and Verna Schrock Barclay. He was the husband of Martha N. Marra Barclay, his wife of 51 years. Mr. Barclay served in the U.S. Army 1958-1961 and with the Army Reserves until 1964. He was a retired sergeant with the Baltimore City Police Dept., after 36 years of service. Charlie was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Westminster, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3 of Baltimore and the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons, Charles R. Barclay Jr. and wife Marla of Clarksburg; Michael S. Barclay and wife Robin of New Windsor and 6 grandchildren, Kristen Beckhardt, Marra and Jordan Barclay, Shayna, Gabrielle and Ryan Barclay. He was predeceased by a sister and 3 brothers. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon, Friday, September 11 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with Rev. Fr. Gonzalo Cadavid as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn Park. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, September 10.
