Charles Collings Horn, 89, of Westminster, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born on October 22, 1925 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Edward and Alice Moehlman Horn. He was the husband of Audrey Elizabeth "Betty" Collison Horn, his wife of 50 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as an electrician aboard the USS Biven fron 1944 to 1946. After the war, he lived on Middle River before getting married, where he enjoyed motor boating and water skiing. He also enjoyed model trains and railroads, building the cars and scenery by hand. He was a Master Electrician and took early retirement so he could volunteer at Mountain View Bible Camp, Habitat for Humanity, and Christian Community Center. He lent a helping hand to anyone who asked and could fix most anything mechanical. In later years, he and his family enjoyed cross country trips in their RV and spending winters in Florida. Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law Vernon E. and Jane Horn of Fairfax, VA; granddaughter and husband Jill and Derek Black; great granddaughters Emmalise and Natalie Black; and cousins Gwen Soloman and Kamiel Solomon. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service with military honors at 11:00 a.m. at Carroll Lutheran Village, Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Cr., Westminster with Chaplain Jimmie Schwartz officiating. Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Timonium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Mountain View Bible Camp, 2145 East Deep Run Rd., Manchester, MD 21102.
