Charles Dewey Hedges, Jr., 88, of Westminster, died unexpectedly on December 16, 2014 at the Carroll Hospital Center. He was the beloved husband of June Clark Hedges, married in 1948. Charles was born June 7, 1926 in Harrodsburg, KY and raised on a farm in Danville, KY. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a Radar/Radio Technician. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1951 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Westinghouse Electric for 38 years before retiring as a Program Manager. Mr. Hedges was an Eagle Scout and an active volunteer for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a long term member of Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church in Columbia where he served as a Deacon, Elder, and Building Chairman. In his retirement, he loved playing bridge, and traveling. He was also an avid golfer and had 2 holes-in-one. Surviving in addition to his wife is son and daughter-in-law Dan C. and Linda Hedges of Columbia; daughter and son-in-law Polly H. and Jeff Fasick of Marriottsville; and grandchildren Heather Czarnik and husband Joe, Kari Fasick and Ken Fasick. A Memorial Service will be held on January 24 at 2 P.M. at Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster. Family and friends may visit from 1 to 2 before the service. Burial will be private.
