Charles Edgar Jones, 86, of Westminster, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center.

Born Oct. 14, 1926, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late George E. and Mary Emma Pryor Jones. He was the husband of Anna Mae Franklin Jones, who died in 1983.

He was a mechanical draftsman and bookkeeper for 42 years for Sheppard T. Powell Associates. He served in the Army as a quartermaster stationed in Japan during World War II.

He was a member of the Freedom District Lions Club in Sykesville. As a Lion, he tutored elementary school students, assisted with vision screenings and participated in many other events. He was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He also volunteered at Carroll Lutheran Village in many capacities.

Surviving are children and spouses Michael and Randi Jones, of Powell, Ohio, Robert and Robin Jones, of Middle River, Donna and Carl Becker, of Pequea, Pa., Steven and Cindy Jones, of Forest Hill, and Edward and Sherrie Jones, of Perry Hall; a son-in-law, Ed Ziomek, of Towson; and grandchildren Erin and Sean Jones, Linda Herbert, Kimberly Coco, Ian Jones, Julie and Kevin Becker, and Matthew and Alison Jones.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Ziomek.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Thursday at Carroll Lutheran Village, Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with Chaplain Jimmie Schwartz officiating, assisted by the Rev. Diane L. Day. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Parkwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Lutheran Village Benevolent Fund, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD 21158.
