Charles Eugene Kemp Sr., 73, of Owings Mills, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital in Towson.

Born Nov. 11, 1940, in Lutherville, he was the son of the late Helen Kemp. He was the husband of Janet B. Wagner Kemp.

He had served in the National Guard and was a retired Baltimore City firefighter. He was a lifetime member of the Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Company and was a member of the Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Department. In addition, he was a member of the Hampstead Senior Center.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children James Michael Kemp Sr. and wife Dana, of Hampstead, and Charles Eugene Kemp Jr. and wife Lucy, of Sykesville; brother Allen Kemp and wife Carol; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Company, 12020 Greenspring Avenue, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
