Charles Edward Stevens, age 84, of Westminster, MD, formerly of Highland, MD, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015, at the Carroll Hospice Dove House, surrounded by his family. Born January 22, 1931, in Washington, DC he was the son of the late Charles Edward Stevens, Sr. and Effie Elizabeth Williams Stevens. He was the husband of 59 years to Janet Grace Theofield Stevens. Charles was raised in Colesville, MD. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Charles then attended the University of Maryland, College Park. He retired as a test engineer from Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law; Janet Elizabeth Sowers of Marriottsville, Christine Eve and C. David Thompson of New Windsor and April Lynn and Michael C. Blaney of New Windsor and grandchildren; Theo and Jacob Sowers, Nicholas and Hannah Thompson and Robert, Alex and Amanda Blaney. He was predeceased by his sister, the late Blanche Donaldson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at 10am. Interment will be in Grossnickle Brethren Cemetery, Myersville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
