Charles Loren "Peck" Knisley, 93, of Littlestown, Pa., formerly of Sykesville, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Hanover Hospital in Hanover, Pa.

Born March 11, 1919, in Everett, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Mattie Melott Knisley. He was the husband of Audra M. Knisley, who died in 2007.

He was a graduate of Robert P. Smith High School, in Everett, Pa. He was a decorated veteran from World War II. He served in the Army, 28th Infantry Division and received the bronze star and silver star award. He had retired as a nurse supervisor from Springfield Hospital Center.

He enjoyed attending auctions and tinkering with clocks.

Surviving are a son, Stephen Knisley, of Littlestown; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Elizabeth Knisley, of Sykesville; granddaughters Jennifer Summerson and Lindsay Knisley, both of Gettysburg, Pa.; and a great-granddaughter, Autumn Marie.

He was predeceased by sisters Nellie Barnes and Mary Sue Lewis.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A graveside service will follow at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
