Charles Nelson "Chuck" Edwards, 55, of Finksburg, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Born Jan. 3, 1958, in Houston, he was the son of Constance "Sue" Edwards, of San Antonio, and the late Charles Hulser Edwards. He was the husband of Patricia Kordowski Edwards, his wife for more than 24 years.

He graduated in 1980 from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y., with a degree in marine engineering. He received a master's of science degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He also had a professional engineer (PE) license and first engineer steam and motor vessels, USCG license.

Upon graduating from Kings Point, Chuck joined the Naval Reserves and retired as captain in 2007. He worked for Trigen Philadelphia Energy Corp., Johnson Yokogawa Corp., Advanced Marine Enterprises, Inc. and Reynolds Metals Marine Division. After, he became a general manager at GDF Suez Energy North America.

He, having become an Eagle Scout in his youth, played an active role in his sons' scouting experience as they worked toward their own Eagle Scout rank. He served as assistant scoutmaster for Troop 9 in Upperco. He was also a member of the Baltimore Rowing Club, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and races.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are sons Christopher Charles, Alexander Charles and Matthew Charles Edwards; parents-in-law Edward and Dolores Kordowski, of Oaklyn, N.J.; sister-in-law Lisa Kordowski, of Newark, Del.; brother-in-law Leon Kordowski, of Oaklyn, N.J.; uncle J. D. Turner, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; cousins and numerous friends.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 or 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, where a Christian Wake service will be held at 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon. Interment with military honors is planned to follow at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills.
