Charles Prentice "Chuck" Chaney, 71, of Finksburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

Born Aug. 3, 1941, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Prentice Earl and Dorothy Osborn Chaney. He was the husband of Deborah Sue Peregoy Chaney, his wife of 33 years.

He was a 1963 graduate of William & Mary College, where he earned a degree in mathematics. He was a payroll software specialist for Ceridian Corporation, where he worked for 44 years.

He was a member of Carrollton Church of God in Finksburg where he served as an elder, Sunday School teacher, and worship leader. He was a railroad enthusiast and enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Clemson Tigers fan. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Jennifer Bush and husband Jacob, of Hampstead, N.C.; sons Jeff Chaney and wife Elizabeth, of Westminster, and Scott Chaney, of Clemson, S.C.; a sister, Cheryl Wright, of Frederick; grandchildren Maddux Bush, and Emma, Ryan and Peyton Chaney; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Carrollton Church of God, 1901 Carrollton Road, Finksburg, with the Rev. Dave Meador officiating. Interment will follow in the Carrollton Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carrollton Church of God, 1901 Carrollton Road, Finksburg, MD 21048.
