Charles Roger Peeling Jr., 83, of Westminster, died Sunday, October 19, 2014, at the Dove House. Born October 15, 1931, in New Oxford, PA. He was the son of the late Roger C. Peeling and Mabel Freed Peeling. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Jessie Bowersox Peeling. He worked for C&P Telephone for 37 ½ years, was a bus driver for Bill Rohrbaugh's Charter Service Inc for 17 years and was a CATS driver for 13 years. He graduated from Westminster High School in 1949, and was a member of the varsity football team. He was a member of St. David's United Church of Christ in Hanover, PA, served in the Air Force from 1951 - 1955, past President of the Westminster Jaycees in 1961 and district vice president in 1962, coached with the Westminster Little League, president of the Board of directors for the Carroll County Chargers in the late 60's and 70's, member of Door to Virtue Masonic Lodge #46, AF & AM and the Bee Hive Club, member of Quail Valley Golf Club, Life member of the VFW Post 467, American Legion Carroll post #31, and Westminster Elks Lodge #2277and former member of Boumi Temple and Western Maryland Shrine. Besides his wife he is survived by daughters and son-in-laws Debra P. and Larry Freeland of Westminster, Christine M. and Steve Brandenburg of Annapolis, son and daughter in law Mitch and Tammy Peeling of Waynesboro, VA., three grandchildren Ashley Brandenburg Habib of Geneva, Switzerland, Sara Peeling of Brighton, MA, and Jacob Peeling of Staunton, VA, brother-in-law John "Jack" Bowersox of Westminster, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St. Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with his pastor Rev. Scott A. Sager, officiating. Interment with military honors at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be offered to St. David's United Church of Christ, 142 Hobart Rd., Hanover, PA 17331 or Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
