Charles Ronald "Pop" Carroll, 70, of Woodbine, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at home.

Born Aug. 8, 1943, in Maryland, he was the son of the late Henry Carroll and Elizabeth Puff Carroll. He was the husband of Barbara Day Carroll.

He worked at Transco for 22 years, retiring in 1988, and started his own business, Ronnie's Welding. Back in the day he enjoyed racing at 75/80 and also enjoyed his trips on his motorcycle.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Chuck Carroll; a daughter, Judy Carroll; a niece, Barbara Ann Keith, who was like a daughter; grandchildren Brittany Carroll, Cheyanne Carroll, Jesse "Bud" Sidebottom, and Austin, Cody and Dustin Keith; great-grandchildren Kyleigh and Dylan Woods; brothers Henry "Shorty" Carroll and wife Mary, and Gene Carroll and wife Betty; and sisters Mary Ann Alban and husband Richard, and Marie Givens.

He was predeceased by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
