Charles Richard "Joe" Franey, 82, of Hanover, Pa., died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Hanover General Hospital in Hanover.

Born Jan. 26, 1930, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Edward and Theresa Miller Franey. He was the husband of Pauline Elizabeth White Franey, who died in 2003.

He was retired from Continental Can, where he had worked for 43 years as a machinist.

Surviving are children Jo Ann Yohe and husband Neal, of Hanover, Deborah Jane Franey, of Reisterstown, and David Wayne Franey and wife Gail, of Littlestown, Pa.; siblings Madeline Lucas, of Reisterstown, Janet Metzbower, of Eldersburg, and Edward and Robert Franey, both of Catonsville; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by siblings Margaret Carter, Dorothy Casey, and William, Catherine and Dolores Franey.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
