Charles Robert Myers, 90, of Upperco, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born June 29, 1923, in Upperco, he was the son of the late Charles Rasmus and Olive Mabell Cooper Myers.

He was a 1940 graduate of Hampstead High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army in the 82nd Airborne and Fifth Air Force.

Following the war, he attended West Virginia University and earned a degree in agriculture. He worked for the Navy as a civilian, surveying and charting the oceans. He retired from the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as a civil engineer in 1974.

He had been a member of the Board of Governors for the Carroll County Farm Museum and a member of the Carroll County Historical Society. He enjoyed skiing, farming and gardening.

Surviving are a sister, Reatha Myers Osborn, of Upperco; nieces Johann Krebs Kaltenbacher, Claudia Krebs Chapman and Shirley Myers Zumbrun, all of Upperco; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Marvin S. Myers; and a nephew, George Charles Myers.

Services and interment will be held at a later date.
