Charles W. Burrier, Jr., age 87, of Winfield, died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, MD., He was born June 27, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant, MD the son of the late Charles W. Burrier, Sr. and the late Elizabeth A. Burrier (nee Lindsay). He was the Owner of Burrier Funeral Home and a funeral director with Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., after selling the funeral home in 1992 to Arthur Queen; He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Mt. Airy, serving on the Church council. He was a Past President and former secretary (18 years as a Secretary) of Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club; also received the Melvin Jones award. He was on the advisory board at the F & M Bank in Mt. Airy. He was a member of the Prudence Lodge #190 AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Mt. Airy, MD. He was on the Board of Directors of Carroll Lutheran Village for 8 years and headed the Spiritual Life Committee. He was on the board and Vice President of Bethany Cemetery. He was an honorary member of the Winfield Volunteer Fire Company. He was a Life member of Maryland State Funeral Directors Association and a member of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association. He was a Life Member of the Westminster Elks Club. Surviving are his wife B. Jeanne Burrier of 44 years, who worked side by side with Charles at the Funeral Home; also his mother in law Ruth E. Gosnell of Mt. Airy. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Thursday from 7-9 PM with a Masonic Service at 7:30 PM and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, with a Lions Club and Winfield Fire Co. Service at 7:30 PM; where Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jimmie Schwartz the Chaplain of Carroll Lutheran Village officiating. Reception will be held at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home multipurpose room. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery, Daysville, MD.
