Charles William Dells, 67, of Sykesville, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born Sept. 10, 1945, at home in Sykesville, he was the son of the late William and Catherine Margaret Herche Dells. He was the husband of Sandra L. "Sandy" Dells, his wife of 49 years.

He had served in the Army National Guard and had been a journeyman plumber with Robert L. Feezer Company for 47 years.

He was a member of the Westminster Moose, AARP, and was a former member of the Freedom Optimist Club. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver Mark Martin, and enjoyed spending time with his "granddogs," Flash and Susie.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, John C. Dells, of Marriottsville; sister and brother-in-law Irene and Dave Hoff, of Sykesville; a nephew, Mike Hoff, of Sykesville; and many cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Nupp officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142; or to Wards Chapel United Methodist Church, Heritage Trust, 11023 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133.
