Charles Leo "Bud" Zimmerman, age 89, of Union Bridge, died Wednesday, June 14, 2107 at Seasons Hospice of Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown, after a brief illness. Born August 21, 1927 in Union Bridge, he was the son of the late Leo F. and Pauline Alexander Zimmerman. He was the husband of Betty Wilson Zimmerman, his wife of 70 years. Bud served in the Army's 14th Armored Division during World War II in France and Germany. He was employed as a trackman on the Western Maryland Railroad and then in maintenance with Lehigh Portland Cement Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Union Bridge United Methodist Church, Plymouth Lodge #143 AF & AM and the Order of the Eastern Star #41, both of Union Bridge; Boumi Temple of Baltimore, the Ambassador's Club of Boumi Temple, the Western Maryland Shrine Club and was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #8806 of Union Bridge. He enjoyed doing maintenance work at his church and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steven Lee Zimmerman and wife Sandy of Union Bridge; a granddaughter, Wendy Beacham and husband Philip; 3 great grandchildren, Justin, Emily and Abby Beacham; a great great granddaughter, Adalyn and a sister, Margaret Haines of Westminster. He was predeceased by a sister, Jeanette Welty. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Bridge Volunteer Fire Co., P.O.
