Clara Virginia Ruby, 76, of Gettysburg, Pa., formerly of Hampstead, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Gettysburg.

Born Oct. 18, 1936, in Trenton, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Rose Shaffer Ruby. She was the wife of Charles Raymond Ruby Jr., who died in 2004.

She had been a registered nurse and was a founder and member of the North Carroll Band Boosters. She participated in designing the layout of Carroll Hospital Center.

She enjoyed traveling, bluegrass music and had been a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are sons William Ruby and wife Teena, of Hanover, Pa., and Mark Ruby and wife Crystal, of Silver Run; stepdaughters Sharon Macharsky, of Fairfield, Pa. and Pamela Sine, of Baltimore; a sister, Marie Rhoten, of Hampstead; brothers Ralph Ruby, of Hampstead, and Richard Ruby, of Waldorf; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Dave Ruby.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Art Monroe officiating. Interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery.
