Clark J. Wagner, 71, of Westminster, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born in Richmond, Va., he was the son of the late Martha Scott Wagner and A. Harry Wagner. He was the husband of Cynthia "Cindy" Hirshberg.

He attended John Marshall High School in Richmond and graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for the National Security Agency in computer security and retired in 2003 as a technical director.

He enjoyed anything automotive, including repairing Volvos and watching auto racing, especially Formula One. In retirement, he volunteered for two summers with National Park Service in Great Falls, Mont., in support of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial there, then three summers in Fort Benton, Mont., with the BLM at the Upper Missouri Breaks National Monument, and for two more summers with the National Park Service on the C & O Canal.

He was a member of NARFE, the Carroll County Historical Society, founder of the Howard Heritage Fund, and served on the Food Committee at Carroll Lutheran Village and as the treasurer of the MaCCRA chapter of campus.

He always looked forward to visiting his nieces and nephews while traveling with his wife throughout America in their motor home.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Jennifer L. Wagner, of Vermont; brother Scott and wife Mary Lou Wagner, of Williamsburg, Va.; sister Lynne and husband Larry Mullins, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law Spencer Hirshberg and wife Christiana, of North Huntingdon, Pa.; sister-in-law the Rev. Craig Hirshberg and husband, Dominic DePinto, of Califon, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews in Florida, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Colorado and London, England.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the celebration of life service, 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with Chaplain Jimmy Schwartz officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Howard Heritage Fund, c/o The Columbia Foundation, 10630 Little Patuxent Pkwy., Century Plaza, Suite 315, Columbia, MD 21044; or the Student Scholarship Fund, Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Way, Westminster, MD 21158.
