Cordelia Sandra Runkles, 67, of Mount Airy, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Carroll Hospital Center, after a brief illness.

Born May 25, 1946, in Kingsport, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late John Bartlett Greer and Ruby Mae Brown Greer. She was the wife of Bernard Stanley Runkles Sr., who died in 2010.

She and her late husband resided with her mother-in-law, the late Lillian Runkles, and her sister-in-law, Shirley Runkles, for 41 years.

She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed watching television, animals, good food, attending family reunions in Tennessee and taking rides.

Surviving are a son, Bernard Runkles Jr., of Pikesville; sisters Jeanette Warren, of Jessup, Mary Williams, of Supply, N.C., and Nellie Shifflett, of Williamsburg, Va.; and a brother, Robert Greer, of Eldersburg.

She was predeceased by six sisters and brothers.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service, noon Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown, with the Rev. Jerry Cline, pastor of Liberty-Central United Methodist Church in Libertytown, officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery in Mount Airy.
