Curtis Eugene Hatcher, 87, of Westminster, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at his son's home in Chester.

Born Aug. 8, 1926, in Beckley, W.Va., he was the son of the late Vinson and Ludie Wills Hatcher. He was the husband of Blanche Montuore Hatcher, his wife of 68 years.

He was a Navy WWII veteran. He was retired from Baltimore Gas & Electric. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #31, in Westminster, and was a former member of Stone Chapel United Methodist Church. He was an all-around handyman and enjoyed building birdhouses and woodworking. He was known to be always available to help anyone in need.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children and spouses Anthony "Tony" and Frances Hatcher, of Chester, and Amelia K. "Amy" and Norman Frisch, of Bethalto, Ill.; a sister, Delsie Zornes, of Beckley; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by eight siblings.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Deacon Michael Dodge officiating. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 2305 N. Charles St. #300, Baltimore, MD 21218.
