Cynthia Catherine Schlude, 68, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House of complications resulting from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

Born Jan. 8, 1945 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Catherine Little Siegman. She was the wife of Larry Schlude, her husband of 42 years.

She was a 1963 graduate of Westminster High School and she continued her studies at the University of Maryland, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in secretarial education and a Master's degree in secondary education.

She taught in Prince's George's County for 31 years. Upon returning to Carroll County, she worked part-time at Dutterers Flower Shop.

She enjoyed reading, especially books about the Civil War, taking day trips to places of historical interest, but most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren Callie and Connor.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son Patrick J. Schlude and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, of Arnold; grandchildren Connor and Callie Schlude; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Molly and Jerry Schlude, of Ashley, Pa., and Charlene and Bobby Schlude, of Niskayuna, N.Y.; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Myers-Durbroaw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kristin Dubsky officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's (Leisters) Lutheran Church Cemetery.
