Cy was the youngest of seven children and grew up on the family farm. He entered the Air Force in Jan 1963 and served for four years. He was also an excellent woodworking craftsman and wedding photographer. After Cy retired, he worked part time at Ace Hardware in Winfield and volunteered at the ESSL in Frederick. He could also be found tending his chickens "the girls" that brought back memories of his childhood on the farm. In addition to his wife Cathy, he is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Johnson of Sykesville, and Christine (Christopher) Hickle of Walkersville, three grandsons JT, Daniel and Devon; one sister, Shirley Carey of Fayetteville, PA, and one brother, Orville (Mary) Hoover of Alum Bank, PA, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, John Harold Hoover and Eva Levella Wentz, brothers Blaine, Bud and Vincent, and sister Helen. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 15 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home located at 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD. Burial will be at Fishertown Cemetery in Schellsburg, PA on Saturday, July 16 at 11am with Pastor Janet Cregger presiding.
