Dale Edward Dorsey, 61, of Union Bridge, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, after an extended illness.

Born July 1, 1951, in Baltimore County, he was the son of the late Kenneth Leroy and Dorothy Hammond Dorsey. He was the husband of Darlene Dorsey.

He was a 1969 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School. He was formerly employed as a brick mason, then as a forklift operator at Random House for 37 years, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed working with kids in basketball, baseball and football. He had his own lawn service and catered to senior citizens.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Michelle Billings, of Union Bridge; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Patricia Hammond, of Baltimore, Barbara Hoy, of Frederick, and Brenda Jones, of Mount Airy; brothers Larry Tyler, of Rockville, Kenneth Dorsey, of Westminster, Curtis Dorsey, of Gaithersburg, Thomas and Alan Dorsey, both of Frederick, and Kevin Dorsey, Allen and Spencer Hammond, all of Baltimore.

He was predeceased by a sister, Joann Dorsey.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Bridge Church of the Brethren, 124 S. Main St., Union Bridge. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery in New Windsor.
