Dale Leroy Grote, 65, of Hampstead, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, in Slidell, La.

Born May 25, 1947, in Hanover, Pa., he was the son of the late Albert Nevin Grote and Mildred Katie Berwager Grote. He was the husband of Dianne L. Rill Grote, his wife of 37 years.

He graduated from North Carroll High School in 1965. He served in the Navy and was on the last Wooden Hull Mine Sweeper. He was employed as a motor coach and school bus driver at Rill's Bus Service for more than 28 years. 

He was a member of the Church of the Open Door. He and his wife traveled extensively to 48 of the 50 states and 11 provinces in Canada. In addition to traveling, he enjoyed playing bingo and collecting various memorabilia.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Lauren H. Grote, of Westminster and Rochelle V. Grote, of Hampstead; daughter and son-in-law Selina C. and Tereso Salas, of Hampstead; brother and sister-in-law Dennis L. and C. Elaine Grote, of Hampstead; sister and brother-in-law Diane M. and Richard B. Jackson, of Manchester; mother-in-law and father-in-law Annarebekah G. and Paul D. Rill, of Westminster;  grandchildren Nikkea Turner, Ariana and Angelina Rivera, Jason and Marcelino Laguna and Angel Salas; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; and from 9 a.m. until the time of service, 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. Dr. Ray Shutt and the Rev. Todd Comstock co-officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Carrollton Church of God Cemetery.
