Darlene D. Thompson, a life long resident of Dayton, MD passed away on August 13, 2014 at the age of 61 surrounded by her loving family. Darlene is survived by her longtime companion Dana Lee Wilt, and her son and daughter-in-law Jake and Vickie Sizemore, her brothers and sisters-in-law Harry and Jenny Simpson of Marriottsville, and Clinton and Karen Simpson of Dayton, her sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Wayne Rippeon of Dayton, sisters Sherry Rothstein of Elkridge and Peggy Simpson of Dayton, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Walter and Alice Simpson, and by her brothers Walter (Teeny) Simpson Jr. and Gary L. Simpson. She owned her own cleaning business for 40 years. Darlene loved taking pictures, painting and spending time with her family, friends, and best friend Marie Hicks. She loved being with all the children and enjoyed celebrating every holiday. She loved going to the Howard County Fair and supporting the 4-H'ers at the sales. She always put everyone else before herself. She was an amazing, kind hearted, caring and loving woman who will be missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville.
