Darlene Zimmer Threatte, 79, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Lorien Nursing Center in Taneytown, after an extended illness.

Born March 7, 1933, in New Orleans she was the daughter of the late Milbern Zimmer and Cecile Molaison, and step-father Jackson Molasion. She was the wife of James C. Threatte.

She graduated from St. Mary's Dominican College in New Orleans. During the 1960s and '70s she worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and was elected to the Prince Georges County Council. She worked in the field of health-care management at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and for the Carroll County Bureau of Housing.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are siblings Dottie Collins, of Denham Springs, La., Mel Zimmer, of Palm Coast, Fla., Ricky Zimmer and wife Amy Matthews, of Covington, La.; children Col. Donald White and wife Dr. Janet Wasson, of Washington, D.C., Susan Hood and husband John, of Owings, Charlene White Feeter, of Raleigh, N.C., and Sharon White Kirkpatrick and husband Mark, of Westminster: grandchildren Jason Cadmus and wife Ashleigh, of Edgewater, Emily Oakley and husband Mike, of Tempe, Ariz., Morgan Garzini and husband Rob, of Ukiah, Calif., Samantha Miller, of Westminster, Amy Cadmus, of Owings, Sarah Cornell and husband Jonathan, of Ogden, Utah, Ryan Kirkpatrick, of Westminster, and Elayna Feeter, of Raleigh, N.C.; great-grandchildren Gage Garzini, Ari Oakley, and Kayleigh Cadmus; five step-children; six step-grandchildren; and friend Joanne Goldsmith.

She was predeceased by a son, David Threatte; a son-in-law, Greg Feeter; and a brother-in-law, Fred Collins.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Saturday at Ascension Episcopal Church (in the stone church), 23 N. Court St., Westminster.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
