Davena Kay Marick, age 55 of Surgoinsville, TN, formerly of Sykesville, joined her Savior on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. She passed at the Dove House in Westminster after a five year struggle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Margaret Harlow. She was married 36 years and 8 days to John B. Marick. She was the mother of four children: John A. Marick and his wife Rose with grandchildren Owen, Lily, Logan and Maggie; Justin Marick and his wife Jennifer with grandchild Colton; Joel Marick and his wife Christa with grandchild Emma; and Jordan Marick. Davena was an involved, active mother, homeschooling the boys. She was active with sports, Scouts and bee keeping. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens. Raising chickens was also close to her heart. After the boys were out of school, she re-entered the career life in the medical field as a Cardiac Tech and later as a Dexa-Scan Tech until she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Retired, she traveled and camped as much as possible while being treated for cancer. She will always be loved and remembered....A Life you can hang your hat on. The family will receive friends today from 6-8pm at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a Prayer Service will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 11am with Reverend Michael Ruane officiating. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
