David Brian Black, 53 of Westminster, MD and Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully at his home in Florida on March 3, 2018. Born February 17, 1965 in Gettysburg, PA. He was the son of the late Benjamin F. Black Jr. and Phyllis J (Staub) Black. David was raised in Uniontown, MD and was a graduate of Francis Scott High School in 1981. He served in the US Army from 1990 to 1993 and was stationed in South Korea and in Carlisle, PA. In 2001, he graduated from Catonsville Community College with Associated Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse, specializing in geriatrics. He held a variety of positions including Director of Nursing. David was a member of Westminster Church of the Brethren. He had a deep love of Jesus and enjoyed sharing his faith and serving others. In 2013, David moved to Florida to fulfill his dream of sunshine, sunsets and long walks on the beach. In addition to his love of nature and the outdoors, he enjoyed traveling, cooking, antiquing and entertaining. He especially enjoyed hosting the Christmas Eve Celebration for the family. He also love spoiling his beloved nieces and nephews. David was a kind and compassionate soul and he touched many lives. He loved all living creatures including his many pets. Surviving in addition to his mother are siblings Paul Black and wife Loriane of Westminster, MD, Patricia Kulp and husband Chester of Gettysburg, PA, and Jane Windell and husband Wayne. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins and many dear friends. He was predeceased by siblings Donna M. Black and Benjamin F. Black III. A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held Saturday, April 7 at 4 pm at Westminster Church of Brethren at 1 Park Place, Westminster, MD 21157 with Pastors Glenn McCrickard and Pastor Ryan Black his nephew officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Church of Brethren.
