David Lee Johnson, 80, of Westminster, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House after a fifteen-year battle with leukemia.

Born Sept. 3, 1933, in Baltimore, he was the son of James H. Johnson and R. Lillian McCall Johnson. He was the husband of Florence James Johnson, his wife of 48 years.

He practiced law in Westminster for 43 years.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Linda Hockaday, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Dianne Shoemaker and husband Adam, of French Creek, West Virginia; a son, Michael J. Johnson, of Westminster; brother Carroll H. Johnson and wife Kathy, of Ellicott City; a sister, Mary Anne Macauley, of Newport Ritchie, Florida; grandsons Kurt Hockaday and wife Christie, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Michael "Chip" Johnson Jr., of Westminster; foster sons Neal Harvey, of Manchester, and Keith Harvey, of Alabama; foster granddaughter Emily Harvey, of Manchester; and three great-grandsons.

He was predeceased by a son, Dean L. Johnson; a sister, Jane A. Chenault; and a grandson, Angus Breen.

Services and interment are private.
