David Lee "Sonny" Stahley, 74, of Westminster, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born March 14, 1938, in Taneytown, he was the son of the late William Stahley and Nellie Overholtzer Stahley. He was the husband of Mary R. Stahley, his wife of 52 years.

Before retiring he was a body and fender man at numerous auto body shops.

He enjoyed shooting pool. He was a life member at the VFW Molleville Post No. 467, he was on their honor guard team; member of the American Legion Carroll Post No. 31, were he cooked breakfast; member at the Moose Lodge No. 1381, and a member of the Littlestown Eagles.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter-in-law Edie and husband George Snyder; brothers Francis E., Paul W., and Robert R. Stahley; sisters Doris L. Liggon, Ruth A. Utz, and N. Caroline Beard; granddaughter April Eckard and husband Terry, of Littlestown, Pa.; and great-grandchildren Autumn, Garrett Lee, Skylar A., Loribeth Eckard, all of Littlestown; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard Lee Stahley, who died in 2002; a sister, Mary E. Bailey; brothers Kenneth Stahley and Bernard "Penny" Stahley.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, with an American Legion service at 7 p.m., at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dave Bare officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
