David Scott Whitley, 43, of Hampstead, died suddenly Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born March 28, 1969, in Baltimore, he was the son of Martha Twele Wiley, of Lorida, Fla. He was the husband of Susan L. Whitley.

He was in the Navy from 1986 to 1989 and served aboard the U.S.S. Constellation. He was employed by the Social Security Administration as an earnings clerk. He was a member of American Legion Post 256 in Parkton.

He enjoyed music and followed several local bands. He collected Coca-Cola memorabilia and Harley-Davidson T-shirts.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are daughter Jessica Pia Whitley; son Taylor Stanfield Whitley; sister Stacey Long; and granddaughters Abigail Lyn Wells and Allison Lee Wells, all of Hampstead.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and  11 a.m. until the time of the celebration of life at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main St., Hampstead. Interment will be private.
