David W. Thomas, 72, of Hanover, died on Saturday January 10, 2015 at the York Hospital. Born in Espy, PA, he was the son of the late James and Dorothy Thomas. He was the husband of Betsy Rill Thomas. He had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Espy, PA and was a graduate of Williamsport Tech. He was a Marine Corps veteran, a member of the International Benchrest Shooters (IBS), a long standing member of the NRA, and American Legion Post 0945. He enjoyed hunting and was an accomplished marksman. He enjoyed custom reloading and was a gunsmith hobbyist and history buff. He especially enjoyed the Gettysburg battlefields, spending time with his grandchildren and antagonizing liberals everywhere. Surviving in addition to his wife is his sister, Susan Snyder, brother-in-law, Bill Snyder, and nephew, Bradley Snyder; a daughter, Kimberly Thomas Longfellow; son-in-law David Longfellow, Jr.; grandson, David R. Longfellow, III; stepdaughters, Ashley Craft Clark and Quaker Twigg and husband Chad Twigg ; granddaughters, Evelyn, Ellison and Vivian Clark, Caryss and Camden Twigg. He was predeceased by a younger brother, James (Tommy) Thomas. The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 13, 2015 from 3-5:00 and 7-9:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Art Monroe officiating. Interment will be in Manchester Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the , P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058; , PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101; or to Paralyzed Veterans (www.PVA.org).
