Deborah Carol "Debbi" Tawney Hawk, 58, of Westminster, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Citizen Nursing Home in Frederick.

Born April 26, 1955, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ruby Tawney.

She was a 1973 graduate of Westminster High School. She was a dispatcher for the City of Frederick and also a secretary for the Airline Owners and Pilots Association, where she distributed maps and charts for the airline industry. She attended Catonsville Community College, where she graduated with a degree in geriatric nursing.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She also enjoyed Facebook and playing pogo and internet bingo. She was a member of the VFW Molesville Farm Post No. 467 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the American Legion Carroll Post 31.

Surviving are children Nikki Nelson Jessee, of Thurmont, and John K. Hawk Jr. and fiance Shawna Maggard, of Union Bridge; brother-in-law and sister Mike and Cindy Tawney Kahn, of Woodstock; nephew and niece Cybill and Chad Birmingham; and grandchildren Travis, Tyler, Jacob, Jeramy and Joseph.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life service, 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Ave., Frederick MD 21701.
