Debra Jean Buckmaster Stricker, age 65, passed away in her Finksburg home, surrounded by her loving family on April 8, 2017. Born on January 1, 1952, Debbie was the second of five children born to John Edward and Betty Jean Lilly Buckmaster in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Debbie lived there until she met and married her husband, William Robert Stricker (Bill), on December 27, 1969. In 1971 they moved to their home in Finksburg. Together Bill and Debbie had two sons, Steven Craig Stricker and Brian Philip Stricker. Debbie was the secretary at Liberty High School for 31 years. More than anything, Debbie loved her family and friends. Through her life, she watched Bill coach baseball and soccer and her sons play sports for South Carroll High School. She watched her boys, Steven and Brian, grow into successful men with families of their own. Once her boys were grown, Debbie enjoyed golfing, horseback riding, gardening, traveling with Bill, spending time with family and friends, and playing with her best buddy and neighbor, Brody Clary. Like Bill, Debbie was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Piney Branch Golf Club for 30 years, and was Women's Club Champion in 1999. Debbie never met a stranger. Her greatest gifts were her ability to see the good in everyone she met and her willingness to put everyone's needs before her own. Throughout her four year "Carnival Ride" with cancer, Debbie learned and remembered the names of every single person who played a role in her care; from the doctors and nurses to the aides and transport staff members. She was especially grateful to those who played a role in her care over the last several years. Debbie had a smile and a kind word for everyone, no matter how badly she was feeling. She loved her life and believed in miracles. Debbie chose to celebrate her life rather than ask others to mourn her death. She enjoyed the company of her family members and friends in her Finksburg home on April 2, 2017. Debbie is survived by the love of her life and husband of 47 years, Bill Stricker (74); son, Steven (46) and wife, Stephanie; son, Brian (45) and wife, Jane; her mother, Betty Jean Buckmaster (83); and her three sisters, Brenda Kim Parrott (63), Donna Lynn Young (62), and Laura Ann Price (57). A brother Pete passed away in 1981. In lieu of flowers, Debbie and Bill request that you consider making a donation to the Carroll County Cancer Center, Carroll Hospice, or the .
