Dennis Frederick Gore Sr., 87, of Westminster, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born Sept. 29, 1926, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Fred Evans Gore and Alverta Powder Gore. He was the husband of Beverly Gore, his wife of nearly 60 years.

He had been a truck driver and farmer for many years. He had served with the Navy Armed Guard as a gunner on Liberty Ships during World War II.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Dennis F. Gore Jr., of Westminster; daughters Beverly Jackson, Carla Anderson and Dawn Rigler, all of Westminster, and Della Wernecke and husband Michael, of Delaware; grandchildren Kari DeMont and husband Russell, William Anderson Jr. and wife Kelly, and Wendy Anderson; and great-grandchildren Brooke Christine DeMont and Morgan Kimberly Anderson.

He was predeceased by siblings Marvin, Murray, Alvin and Robert Gore, and Lorraine Sparrow; and by a granddaughter, Kimberly Michelle Anderson.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykeville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
