Dennis L. Steger, 64, of East Berlin, Pa., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Genesis Healthcare in Gettysburg, Pa.

Born Feb. 16, 1949, in Hanover, Pa., he was the son of Harry Steger, of Littlestown, Pa., and the late Nevin C. and Frances J. Garrett Eline. He was the husband of Carol J. Baumgardner Steger, his wife of 11 years.

He was a member of Hanover First Church of God, where he served as chairman of the medical emergency response team and as an usher.

He was a 1967 graduate of Littlestown High School and a 1968 graduate of Thompson Business School.

He retired in 2005 after 26 years of service at York Wallcoverings, and was a retired firefighter and emergency medical technician. He was also employed by Bell Socialization Services, and was a member of Lake Meade Fire & Rescue, Liberty Fire Company No. 1 in East Berlin, Midway Fire Company, Cumberland Valley Fireman's Association, Adams County Volunteer Emergency Services Association, East Berlin VFW and the Littlestown Eagles.

He was an avid Penn State fan.

Surviving, in addition to his father and wife, are stepdaughters Alicia M. Clingan and husband Michael, of Biglerville, Pa., and Amber M. Klinedinst and husband Chad, of Hanover; grandchildren Noah, Kaine, Aida and Sophia Klinedinst, all of Hanover; sisters Lisa A. Bortner and husband Tony, of Spring Grove, Pa., Jean L. Eline, of Spring Grove, Sandi Steger-Coppersmith, of Hanover, and Terri Lynn Caudill and husband Will, of Hanover; brothers Gregory A. Eline and wife Katie, of Abbottstown, Pa., and Jerry Steger, of Thomasville, Pa.; nieces Megan and Kimberlee Eline, of Abbottstown, Amanda Bortner, of Spring Grove, and Ashley Stevens, of Hanover; a great-niece, Jazlynn Bortner, of Spring Grove; and a great-nephew, Zac Bortner, of Spring Grove.

He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Steger.

Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Feiser Funeral Home, 306 Harrisburg St., East Berlin; and from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service, 11 a.m. Thursday at Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Ave., Hanover, with the Revs. Jerry Shoap, Brian Markle and Phil Nace officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
