Donald Jarrett Shauck, 81, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Future Care-Cherrywood.

Born Nov. 6, 1931, in Gamber, he was the son of the late Jarrett Wesley and Mary Alice Arnold Shauck. He was the husband of June Fisher Shauck, his wife of 60 years.

He was a 1949 graduate of Westminster High School. He served in the Navy from April 1952 to April 1956. He worked at Black and Decker and he retired from Sears, Roebuck and Company in 1991 after 35 years of service.

He was a life member of Reese and Community Volunteer Fire Company. He was awarded the Fireman's Hall of Fame in 2008. He was also a member of the Door to Virtue Lodge No. 46 for 50 years and a member of Sandy Mount United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, eating steamed crabs, working in his garden and orchard and working bingo at the fire hall.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Deborah Lynn Barrick and husband Rick, of Westminster; and a son, Charles Wesley Shauck, of Westminster.

He was predeceased by sisters Winnifred Pool and Audrey Chaffman.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Wellman and the Rev. Bill Boyer officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Mount United Methodist Church Cemetery.
