Donald Kerkhoff Knight, 90, of Littlestown, Pa., formerly of Reisterstown, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Dove House in Westminster.

Born Aug. 31, 1922, in Reisterstown, he was the son of the late Charles and Martha Kerkhoff Knight. He was husband of Elsie C. Schmitt Knight, his wife of 71 years, who died Sept. 24, 2012.

He lived in Reisterstown and was employed as a surveyor by Baltimore County for 30 years before moving to Warfordsburg, Pa., where he lived on a farm with his wife until their move to Littlestown in 1990. For many years he raised coon dogs and was an avid hunter. He played mandolin, banjo, violin and piano, and especially enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica.

Surviving are daughters Elsie Marie "Mitzi" Dougherty, of Warfordsburg, Pa., Suann Spalding and husband Ronald, of Reisterstown, and Lois Jean Szymanski and husband Daniel, of Westminster; sons Donald Richard Knight and wife Martha, of Westminster, Charles William Knight and wife Annie, of Finksburg, and James Louis Knight, of Westminster; a son-in-law, Phillip Stacks, of Hampstead; grandchildren Amy Lowman, Laura Spiers, Erin Sarabia, Carroll "Tabbie" Howard, Lisa Bailey, Sydney "Buster" Lucas, Brian Knight, Phyllis Porter, Cathy Gist, Jason Spalding, Brandi Schmelz, Shannon Meyers and Ashley Miles; sisters Martha Yingling and Harriet Williams; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Martha A. Stacks; a grandson, Kenneth Wayne Knight; and siblings Lawrence, Clarence, Richard and Marshall Knight, and Virgie Hyle, Winnie Anderson, Ruth Davidson and Hazel Schemm.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
