Donald Leroy Groomes, 51, of Westminster, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born Aug. 1, 1961, in Hampstead, he was the son of Freda Davidson Groomes, of Manchester, and the late Leroy Groomes. He was the husband of Beth Hileman Groomes, his wife of 26 years.

He was a 1979 graduate of North Carroll High School. He was a plumber working consistently with several local companies his entire adult life.

His enjoyed his 1970 Nova, which he drag raced at many tracks.

Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, sons Roger Thomas Groomes and Steven Donald Groomes, both of Westminster; brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Lisa Groomes, of Westminster; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Carl Gentile, of Gettysburg, Pa.; a mother-in-law, Mary Ann Hileman, of Westminster; a sister-in-law, Ann Double, of Westminster; a brother-in-law, Scott Hileman, of Westminster; a friend, David Gentile; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Curtis Ehrgott officiating. Interment will be in Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hampstead.
